Went here twice on a recent vacation. Clean and friendly. For lunch we shared a salad and a tuna on bruschelle maxi that was the best tuna melt according to my husband. Dinner another started with two Negroni cocktails then pasta and cookies for dessert

This place was not good. There are a lot of excellent restaurants in Venice, and this one was mediocre at best. They bread for the pizzas was stale. The pasta I had was alright, but not great.

My friend and I ran across Bar Da Gina when we were walking to the Guggenheim Gallery. It looked very inviting, so we decided to stop in for a late lunch; we were VERY glad we made that call!
The venue is quite small, with a very personal feel; they serve a wide range of classic Italian fare. We tried several dishes, and they were all nothing short of amazing :-)
While everything we tried that day was exceptional, our mutual, hands-down favorite was the Bruschetta Porcine. The portion size was very generous, and the taste was sheer poetry!
I'll have no hesitation visiting here again when next I'm in Venice :-) -

Bar Da Gino would've fared a lot better had I ordered food "to go" for it wasn't the food that was the problem. With an almost comically extensive menu including many salads and too much bruschetta, you're bound to find something that satisfies. It's the service that'll fail you and unfortunately, that matters.
Though Bar Da Gino wasn't crowded or anywhere near full, my son and I were seated in a little area that featured our 2-person table and a larger table for 8 about two feet from us. When we sat down, that table was covered with dirty dishes from some earlier dining party and I half-joked that it needed to be cleaned, assuming that would be imminent. Well, you know what they say about assuming anything.
The detritus on that table wasn't cleared until we were well into our meal, when it was needed to seat a large party. I'm not particularly picky, but sitting beside a mound of dirty dishes, napkins, and food debris was both unappetizing and unprofessional.
Being through with my meal, I requested the check which, when delivered, was done so with the waiter remarking "service fee not included". Service had been unremarkable (see above) and I laid down my credit card thinking that telling me such was, again, unprofessional. I know what I'm paying for. Then, nothing happened. My waiter never returned for my card and finally, I went to the front counter to pay my bill myself.
Despite being explicitly told that a service fee wasn't included I left none and walked out remarking to my son that I felt a little bad about it. His answer? "The service wasn't good" which, in its bare truth, absolved me of any guilt.
The food here is fine but the service is a deal breaker. -

The pasta and other plates (i.e. rissotto) are frozen, which is not good for an Italian restaurant. The specialty is the bruchetta and it is ok, not the best one.
Prices do not match the quality of food.
The wifi is only for 30 min.
Finally, you cannot add the tip to the payment with credit card. Need to have cash.
